This past Saturday Poke Stop was able to cater a luncheon for HUGS at Sunset Ranch Hawaii. This particular day was their annual Celebration of Life at which they remember those children who have passed away from their illness. HUGS serves families with children up to the age of 21 who have been diagnosed with any illness or disease that could rob a child of his or her life. The organization is the only one of its kind in the state that provides programs designed to improve the quality of life for families as they deal with the emotional and financial hardships of caring for a seriously ill child.
Nevertheless, it was an amazing event, and kids and adults of all ages had an unforgettable time. We served salad, watermelon slices, pasta salad, rice, teriyaki chicken, and to top it all off banana bread pudding with a sweet haupia sauce. The families did activities such as hiking, horse riding, small crafts and believe it or not, finger painting a horse. By the end of the day everyone was full, hydrated and most importantly happy.
